The Election Commission on Thursday uploaded data received from the State Bank of India (SBI) on electoral bonds, which allow individuals and companies to donate to political parties. Coimbatore-based Future Gaming is the largest donor of electoral bonds, according to data disclosed on a Supreme Court order.

Future Gaming and Hospitality donated Rs 1,368 crore in electoral bonds to political parties between April 12, 2019 and January 24, 2024.

Future Gaming and Hotel Services was established in 1991, formerly known as Martin Lottery Agents Limited. Its owner is Santiago Martin, known as India’s “Lottery King”.

Mr. Martin started working in the lottery business at the age of 13, when “he successfully developed and established a large marketing network of lottery buyers and sellers across India,” according to the company’s website.

Future Gaming is the first lottery company in India to broadcast live television draws conducted by various governments through its lotteries.

Future Gaming is a member of the Asia Pacific Lottery Association (APLA). Future Gaming has been a member of the World Lottery Association (WLA) since 2001. In 2009, the WLA awarded Future Gaming certification for compliance with Level 1 standards of the WLA Responsible Gambling Framework.

According to the Future website, Martin also served as the consul general of Liberia, where he also founded the lottery industry.

He is also the president of the All India Federation of Lottery Trade and Allied Industries, a lobby group of lottery distributors, stockists and agents.
