Odisha: 5 killed, 1 injured in head-on collision between scooter and motorcycle

Five people were killed and one seriously injured in a head-on collision between a scooter and a motorcycle in Ganjam, Odisha, police said on Friday morning.

The accident took place at Kesharipatna near Sorada on Thursday night, he said, adding that there were three people each on both the two-wheelers.

He said that this accident is likely to have happened due to low visibility due to dense fog. The deceased were identified as Shrikant Gowda of Ashurabandh, Manoj Dakua of Dulada, Mahendra Nayak of Gopalpur Sashan, Jayant Badatya of Sorada and Rajni Gowda of Sana Sorada. All of them were between 30 and 35 except Rajini, who was 43.

Police said four people died on the spot, while Jayant died on the way to MKCG Medical College and Hospital. He said that the condition of the only person who survived the accident is said to be critical.
