Not 'Save Democracy' but 'Hide Corruption' Rally: BJP's dig at India Bloc

BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi lists cases of corruption among leaders (document)

New Delhi:

The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday slammed the opposition Hindu Bloc’s rally in Ramlila, saying it was not a rally to “save democracy” but a rally to “save families” and “hide corruption”.

Citing cases of corruption against several leaders, including the Congress, DMK and RJD, BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi asserted that all the allegations date back to before 2014, objecting Pai accused the Modi government of implicating them. Corruption investigations stemming from political vendettas.

Trivedi said the Ramlila venue had hosted the India Against Corruption movement under Anna Hazare, adding that the venue would host a rally for “all corrupt elements” on Sunday.

He said it was a strange and shocking sight that those who viewed many leaders as thieves and liars had joined forces with them, an apparent reference to the alliance between the Aam Aadmi Party and other opposition parties.

He added that their leader is now Lalu Prasad Yadav, a convict in several corruption cases.

He claimed that they were all here to hide their old sins and it must be noted that they had been opposing the construction of the Ram temple and some of them called for the eradication of Hinduism.

These parties represent the credibility crisis in Indian politics, while the Bharatiya Janata Party under Prime Minister Narendra Modi embodies credibility politics and a record of delivering on promises.

Slamming the opposition parties, he said although they claimed to be united to save democracy, they themselves were dynastic organizations and had never allowed other parties to rise.
