Rohit Sharma and James Anderson exchanged words after a run-out scare on the fourth day of the fourth Test between India and England in Ranchi on Monday. In the 13th over of India’s second innings, Rohit edged a delivery from the England pacer and although there was a slight lack of communication between him and Yashasvi Jaiswal, the India captain managed to take a quick single. After the incident, Anderson had a few words for him and Rohit also responded in the same manner. However, there was nothing more to the incident as the play resumed and both players returned to their respective positions.

India’s great cricketer Ravi Shastri said in the commentary that there was definitely not a cordial relationship between the two players and pointed out that all players try to take any advantage on offer.

“As he reached the other end, a few words were exchanged between Anderson and Rohit Sharma. The positive thing is that it is not pleasant. You always try to exploit any advantage, get under the skin of the opponent. They get inside – whether it’s a batsman or a bowler,” Shastri said on commentary.

India has scored 118 runs for three wickets till lunch on the fourth day of the fourth Test against England and needs 74 runs to win the series on Monday.

Rohit Sharma (55 off 81) scored a crucial half-century and shared an 84-run partnership with opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal (37), after which India resumed the innings at 40 without loss.

Rajat Patidar (0) faced another failure in the series.

Shubman Gill (18) and Ravindra Jadeja (3) were at the crease at the time of the break.
