North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said the unstable geopolitical situation surrounding North Korea means now is the time to prepare for war more than ever before, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un said during a visit to the country’s main military university, KCNA reported on Thursday.
Kim Jong Un conducted field instruction on Wednesday at the Kim Jong Il Military and Political University, named after his father who died in 2011, and which KCNA calls the country’s “highest seat of military education.”
North Korea, under Kim Jong Un, has stepped up weapons development and forged closer military and political ties with Russia in recent years, allegedly aiding Moscow in its war with Ukraine in exchange for help with strategic military projects.
“If the enemy chooses to engage in military confrontation with North Korea, North Korea will not hesitate to use all means to deal a fatal blow to the enemy,” KCNA quoted Kim Jong-un as saying in a speech to university faculty, staff and students.
North Korea is the abbreviation of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea and the official name of North Korea.

Earlier this month, Kim oversaw the test launch of a new hypersonic medium-range ballistic missile that uses solid fuel, which analysts say will enhance North Korea’s ability to deploy missiles more efficiently than liquid-fuel variants.
North Korea has accused the United States and South Korea of stoking military tensions by conducting so-called “war drills” as the two allies have conducted more intense and larger military drills in recent months.
