‘Nonsense’: BJP demands apology from DMK leader over ‘face cream’ remark

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded an apology from ruling party Dravid Munnetra Kazagam (DMK) candidate from Vellore Lok Sabha constituency Kathir Anand for alleged remarks against women he made during election campaigns.

Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party vice-president Narayanan Tirupati expressed disappointment over the ruling party candidate’s alleged “fair cream” remarks, calling it “nonsense” and added that the DMK government is ” Laughing at” the people.

“This is not just an insult. They think people are fools. This is nonsense. This DMK government is mocking people. He should apologize for his remarks,” the BJP leader said.

DMK leader Kathir Anand made the remarks while addressing an election event earlier on Wednesday, March 27, highlighting the state government’s financial assistance scheme to be provided to women heads of households on a monthly basis 1000 cr assistance.

“Everyone’s face looks nice and bright. All sparkly. Looks like you all have applied fair and lovely pond powder and singha kum kum. What’s the reason? Didn’t you all receive 1000 rupees after the election? Anyone else who missed out will also receive financial aid from Kalagna,” Kesir Anand said.

The state government’s ‘Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Thittam’ (Kalaignar Women’s Rights Grant Scheme) was launched in September last year. The plan was one of the key poll promises that propelled the DMK to power. Under the scheme, Rs 1,000 will be credited into the account of all eligible women beneficiaries.
