Three private security guards at a group home complex in Greater Noida West were arrested on Monday for allegedly assaulting some residents of the community after an argument, police said.

On Sunday night, a delivery boy arrived at the Amrapali Recreational Park Society in Tech Zone 4 under the jurisdiction of Bislach police station and an argument broke out as the guards did not allow him entry.

Video of the incident also surfaced on social media, purportedly showing the security guard assaulting the resident.

Some people who were filming the incident were also attacked by guards.

According to locals, the delivery boys were required to deliver the goods but the society residents who placed the orders did not have a specific app used by society residents to approve entry of visitors, hence the altercation.

“When I reached the society gate, the security personnel beat me up. While attacking me, they said ‘You don’t pay the maintenance fee (of the society) and you are here to support women when we stop the delivery boy ( Apparently the person to whom the order was to be delivered),” Abnish Kumar, 40, a resident of the society, said in his complaint to the police.

Kumar, who works with a private firm, further claimed that the guards were emboldened in their actions due to the support of the Association of Apartment Owners (AOA). He added that evidence of the attack could be found on CCTV.

The association’s ad hoc AOA said in a statement that it had decided to terminate the services of the security agency concerned.

In addition, it is understood that some people deliberately blamed the incident on AOA. We would like to clarify that we have no role in this matter and that this is purely an issue between residents and security,” the statement read.

The statement added that those blaming the incident expressed “frustration” that they were unable to be part of the AOA. At the same time, the police said in a statement that “three security guards who attacked and beat deliverymen and community residents have been arrested.” The report added that officials from the Bislach local police station are conducting further investigation into the case.
