Nissan India appoints Saurabh Vats as Deputy MD, what did the top official say?

Vats joins the company from Stellantis, where he was a member of the Stellantis leadership team and led the Citroën brand in India since its inception.

To strengthen the company’s growth and take it to new heights, leading car manufacturer Nissan has appointed Saurabh Vats as Deputy Managing Director in India. The brand said he will support leadership in Nissan’s transformation plan and prepare the company for its next phase, planned for 2023.

Sharing the news through an official release, it has been said that Vats will be in direct contact with Managing Director Rakesh Srivastava and will report to him regarding business strategies.

Additionally, the newly added member at Nissan will take care of business growth while contributing to the company’s Mid Term Plan (MTP) and support it in achieving the desired goals for the upcoming years.

According to Nissan, Saurabh joins the company from Stellantis, where he was a member of the Stellantis leadership team and led the Citroën brand in India since its inception. He was responsible for all aspects of the business as brand head.

Prior to this, he contributed to General Motors (GM), where he spent more than two decades and took the company to new heights. He held several key leadership roles within the company as well as being involved in the company’s long-term operations in South Korea.

Speaking on the appointment, Frank Torres, President, Nissan India Operations, said, “We are excited to have Saurabh join us as Deputy Managing Director of Nissan Motor India at this important juncture for the company as we enter 2024. His appointment underlines our commitment.” To invest $600 million USD (Rs 5300 crore) in India as part of the alliance and introduce more products to Indian consumers as part of the transformation plan. We are confident that the next phase of Nissan’s growth is going to be exciting for all of us as we build on the success of the Nissan Magnite.”
