Nine-year-old boy dies in three-car collision in Dorset, woman arrested on suspicion of murder

A nine-year-old boy has died in a three-car collision in Dorset and a woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A gray Citroen DS9, a white Ford Transit van and a DAF cattle transport truck and trailer were seen on the A354 Salisbury Road in East Woodyates at around 5.30pm on Monday. ) collided and the police were called.

The boy, from Hampshire, was a passenger in the Citroën. He died at the scene and his family have been informed.

Dorset Police said the driver of the Citroen, a woman in her 30s from Hampshire, was arrested on suspicion of murder and driving offences.

She was taken to hospital for treatment for her injuries and remains in police custody, police added.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Seid said a “detailed scene inspection was carried out overnight” and “initial lines of inquiry” had been completed.

He added: “I would ask any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, or anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage, to please come forward.

“In addition, I would be happy to speak to anyone who may have seen the manner in which the vehicle in question was driven prior to the incident.”
