A 21-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing a woman involved in multiple affairs and ignoring him in Delhi’s Rani Bagh area, police said on Monday.

They said the victim’s body was found on the railway tracks near Shakur Basti railway station.

Police said the woman’s neck had been slashed and more than 20 cuts were found on her body, including on her private parts. The accused, identified as Pandav Kumar, a resident of Budh Vihar, suspected the woman of having multiple affairs, they said.

On January 25, a female body was found near the railway tracks. Almost every part of her body had marks of cuts with sharp objects. Police also recovered a bloody broken knife and a bloody razor at the scene.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (External) Jimmy Chiram said a case has been registered and investigation has been launched.

He added that the police examined more than 100 CCTV footages and identified the accused, who was subsequently arrested.

The DCP said the victim was in his 20s. “During interrogation, Pandav revealed that he had been friends with the deceased for the past one and a half years. They first met at his hometown in Bihar, where the deceased’s sister got married,” he added .

Pandav began to suspect that the deceased was involved in multiple extramarital affairs and was neglecting him, police said, adding that this suspicion led him to decide to kill her. “He purchased two knives from a local vendor at Rani Bagh market to execute his plan.

The accused inflicted multiple injuries on the woman with knives and razor blades, police said. Then fled the scene.
