Nigerian drug dealer arrested in Hyderabad; cocaine and narcotic drugs worth Rs 8 seized

A 43-year-old Nigerian national was arrested here on suspicion of drug trafficking and 557 grams of cocaine and other narcotic drugs worth Rs 8 crore were seized from his possession, police said on Tuesday.

Based on reliable information, the police arrested Iwuala Udoka Stanley and seized 557 grams of Cocaine, 390 grams of MDMA, 3 grams of LSD, 215 grams of Charas, 21 grams of Heroin, 7 grams of Amphetamines, and 45 grams of OG Cannabis. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) SM Vijay Kumar said he also had 190 grams of marijuana and eight mobile phones in his possession.

Police said the accused resides in Candolim, Goa and a team of the Telangana State Narcotics Control Bureau (TSNAB) conducted surveillance in Goa for over a month to identify the accused Stanley.

With the help of technical evidence and the location of the tower, the accused was identified and his location traced.

Police said the investigation team came to know that the accused was going to Hyderabad to supply drugs to his known consumers and also conduct some drug transactions.

Based on this information, the TSNAB team with the assistance of Punjagutta police arrested Stanley and recovered cocaine and various other narcotic drugs from his possession, they said.

In 2017, Stanley was arrested by Goa NCB for drug trafficking and was lodged in Goa Central Jail.

After his release, he continued his drug business and started procuring drugs from different people and selling them to customers in Goa, police said.

The DCP said the accused procured drugs mainly from Nigerians living in Mumbai and Goa and he also procured drugs from many other drug suppliers who will be identified during the course of investigation.

Upon enquiry, it was revealed that more than 500 consumers had purchased medicines from Stanley, seven of them from Hyderabad.

The police added that the investigation aims to identify drug dealers, transporters, financial backers, other accomplices and consumers who purchased drugs from Nigerians.
