Nepal mayor’s daughter missing from Goa ashram, found two days later

A 36-year-old woman from Nepal who went missing on Monday and is the daughter of a mayor in neighboring India has been found, police said. She was found at a hotel in Mandrem, north Goa, authorities said.

Her father Gopal Hamal said his elder daughter Aarti has been missing since Monday, following which the Goa police registered a case and launched a search operation.

Aarti Hamal has been staying at the Osho Meditation Center in Goa for the past few months. She was last seen near Ashwem Beach, The father said in X’s post (formerly Twitter).

Gopal Hamal, deputy metropolitan mayor of Dhanjadi, said they had received messages from Aarti’s friend saying she had lost contact with her. When the family tried to contact her, they got no response and called police.

“My elder daughter Aarti is an Osho meditator and has been living in Goa for the past few months. However, I received a message from her friend that she lost contact with Aarti near Zorba beach in Ashwem yesterday .I request those living in Goa to assist in finding my daughter Aarti,” Mr. Hamal said.

“Also, my younger daughter Arzoo and son-in-law will fly to Goa tonight to search for our elder daughter Aarti,” he added.

Her sister Arzoo Hamal also posted an update on Facebook, saying some callers claimed to have seen Aarti on a bridge near West Olim.

“Some people were extremely helpful and we are forever grateful to them. According to some callers she was last seen on a bridge near West Olym. Few believe she was taken by ambulance from there Hospital.” Arzo posted on Facebook that she was found unconscious, while others have been saying she was taken to the police station.

“But nothing is clear so far. The FIR has been registered and we hope to find my sister soon,” she added.
