NASA reveals three asteroids may fly by Earth today; check speed, size, distance and more

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory continues to provide detailed information on asteroid approaches. Yesterday, March 28, it predicted that three asteroids would pass very close to Earth. Today, another batch of asteroids is on its way and will pass by our planet. Tracking celestial bodies such as asteroids and comets is necessary to protect Earth from potential impact hazards that could cause significant damage. Today, three asteroids are expected to pass close by Earth. From size to speed, learn everything you need to know about these close encounters.

Asteroid 2024 FK: Details

NASA says the first asteroid is designated 2024 FK. The space rock is 94 feet wide, which is as wide as a large airplane. According to the Center for Near-Earth Object Studies (CNEOS), the asteroid is moving at a speed of 69,047 kilometers per hour and will be very close to the Earth today. Asteroid 2024 FK is expected to be 1.2 million kilometers away from Earth. It belongs to the Apollo group of near-Earth asteroids.
