“It is with great humility and gratitude that I accept the ‘Bharat Ratna’ conferred on me today,” the 96-year-old co-founder of the BJP said in a statement.
Advani said that ever since he joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) as a volunteer at the age of 14, he has pursued only one thing in his life, which is to serve the country with “dedication and selflessness”. Whatever tasks life assigns to him.
