A 23-year-old man accused of murdering an autorickshaw driver earlier this month told police he killed another person last year and dumped the body in neighboring Navi Mumbai, an official said.
Officials in Shivaji Nagar said that on January 12 this year, the accused man and two others were arrested for allegedly strangling a 23-year-old autorickshaw driver and throwing the body into the Mitti river in Mumbai’s Kurla area. the police department said Wednesday.
He said the main accused in the case suspected that the victim was having an affair with his wife and therefore planned to murder him with his two accomplices. During interrogation, one of his accomplices, also an autorickshaw driver from Govandi area, told the police that in October last year, he along with two others killed a 24-year-old man and threw the body into a drains in Navi Mumbai, the official said. He said there was a financial dispute between the defendant and the victim.
Police recovered two country-made pistols and multiple knives from the accused. A new murder case has been registered in this connection and an investigation has been launched, the official said.
