Chennai Super Kings (CSK) star MS Dhoni hits the ball into the net ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) opener against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Dhoni took on the CSK bowlers in a practice match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Tuesday. In a video that went viral, Dhoni was seen pushing the limits just for fun and flawlessly executed his signature chopper shot after Deepak Chahal’s delivery. Chahar bowled an oversized ball to Dhoni, who adjusted his steps and timed the delivery perfectly to clear the mid-wicket boundary.

Ahead of the start of the new IPL season, CSK batting coach Michael Hussey praised Dhoni and admitted that he is like Benjamin Button.

“He is preparing very well. His knee looks good at this stage. And he is batting very well now. I must admit he is like Benjamin Button! He keeps getting better,” CSK website quoted He Said Xi.

Hussey further said that Dhoni would find it difficult to run between the wickets while batting.

“He’s not as young as he used to be. So, the jumps between wickets will be more difficult for him. But at the end of the innings, without as much sprinting, he can still hit the ball very cleanly. And he’s now The batting was very good. It was good to see,” the former Australia batsman added.

Dhoni led CSK to their fifth title last year despite struggling throughout the season due to a knee problem.

He successfully underwent knee surgery after the 2023 IPL final.
