‘I had to sell my flat and live in a caravan due to state pension age changes’

A woman says she has been forced to sell her home and live in a caravan due to changes to the state pension age.

The woman, named Linda, said she could no longer afford to live in her “beautiful retirement apartment” and that she “never made it in time” when she was due to receive her pension.

She spoke about her experience in a telephone interview with LBC on Thursday (March 21).

Thousands of women should be compensated after the government failed to alert them to changes to the state pension age, a shocking report has found.

The Parliamentary and Health Services Ombudsman (PHSO) said affected women born in the 1950s had lost the opportunity to “make informed decisions about their financial situation”.
