MS Dhoni was in brilliant form in Sunday’s IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals, scoring 37 runs off just 16 balls with 4 boundaries and 3 sixes. Dhoni batted for the first time in this year’s tournament and his knocks left fans and pundits in awe. After the match, Dhoni was seen applying an ice pack on his knee and the video of him limping worried the fans. Dhoni underwent knee surgery after IPL 2023 and although he is recovering well, the video of him limping could be bad news for CSK.

Dhoni on Sunday became the first Indian wicketkeeper to score 7,000 runs in T20 cricket. The 42-year-old achieved this milestone in the IPL against Delhi Capitals (DC).

Dhoni was at his best during the match. In the end, the former captain of CSK’s five-time IPL champions smashed 37 off just 16 balls, including four boundaries and three sixes. The highest number of runs by a designated wicket-keeper batsman is South Africa’s Quinton de Kock, who scored 8,578 runs as a wicket-keeper batsman. Overall, including matches, Cork has scored 9,407 runs in 329 T20 matches at an average of 32.10 and a strike rate of over 137, with six hundreds and 59 fifties.

DC won the toss and elected to bat first. David Warner (52 off 35 balls, including 5 fours and 3 sixes) and the returning Prithvi Shaw (43 off 27 balls ball, 4 boundaries and 2 sixes) started well with an opening partnership of 93 runs.

After being dismissed, DC lost their way for a while until Rishabh Pant (51 off 32 balls with 4 boundaries and 3 sixes) finally got some quick runs to take the team to 191/ in 20 overs 5.

In the run chase of 192, Khalil Ahmed (2/21) and Mukesh Kumar (3/21) used their line and length to trouble the CSK batsmen, at one point At one point, CSK were 75/3 in 10.2 overs.
