Met police officer who wrongly jailed and assaulted woman jailed

A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been jailed for wrongfully jailing and assaulting a woman.

The 10-day trial was told that Sergeant Isaque Rodrigues-Leite, who is part of the Roads and Traffic Policing Command (RTPC), also used coercion, control and force against the woman, whom he knew. and regular threats and intimidation, culminating in 2019.

PC Rodrigues-Leite, who joined the force in 2019, was found guilty on November 10 of four counts of false imprisonment, two counts of assault, one count of coercive and controlling behavior and one count of criminal damage.

He was sentenced at Croydon Crown Court on Thursday to two years and three months in prison for his offenses against the woman.

In an impact statement read to the court, the victim said: “It has made me afraid to leave my house… it has made me afraid of the police as well.”

The woman contacted police in September 2020 and PC Rodrigues-Leite was subsequently arrested.

He has been suspended by the Mets and will now face a misconduct lawsuit.
