Meerut Metro: Alstom delivers first indigenous train, everything will revolutionize urban transportation

French multinational rolling stock manufacturer Alstom on Friday said it has delivered the first locally manufactured train set for the Meerut Metro to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).

The delivery of the train set is part of a contract signed by Alstom in 2020 to deliver 210 carriages for the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), the company said in a statement.

The Meerut Metro Rail is an urban mass rapid transit system (MRTS) that will run on a 25-km section of Line 1 (14.80 km of elevated line and 4.6 km of underground line), connecting Partapur with Mozambique through 11 stations. Modipuram is connected.

For the convenience of Meerut residents, three stations on the line will provide connectivity to India’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), connecting Delhi and Meerut.

According to the statement, Alstom will provide 30 coaches to serve the line in 10 three-car configurations.
