Revealed at Japan Mobility Show 2025, MazdaThe new Vision A sleek sports coupe shaped by the brand’s ‘Kodo-Soul of Motion’ design language, it promises to embed not only Knight Rider-Style AI personality designed to form an emotional bond with its owner over time, but for cleaning Atmosphere As it happens. Hey, you can’t blame ambition.
The Vision The system is claimed to provide an electric-only range of up to 160 km (99 mi) and a total driving range of up to 800 km (497 mi).
In a bold appeal to sustainability, the concept also features a proprietary technology called Mazda Mobile Carbon Capture. Mazda claims that when the car is driven on carbon-neutral fuel, such as that derived from microalgae (ask your local petrol station), onboard systems can capture CO2 from the atmosphere the more the vehicle is driven, contributing to a net reduction in atmospheric carbon dioxide.
Often hailed by the fossil fuel industry as a savior of climate change, carbon capture and storage is a largely unproven, prohibitively expensive and untested technology. In addition, smoke from ICE exhaust also contains more harmful pollutants than carbon dioxide, such as carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, and hydrocarbons.
Along with the planet-saving coupe, Mazda also revealed the Mazda Vision X-Compact, a small urban vehicle with an AI personality. The concept proposes a future where an “empathetic AI” acts as a friend to the driver – the vehicle will engage in natural conversations, actively suggest destinations and build an emotional connection with its owner over time, representing Mazda’s vision for a more integrated and personalized form of smart mobility.
Masahiro Moro, President and CEO of Mazda, says: “As part of our shared global mission to achieve carbon neutrality, Mazda believes that the joy of driving can be a force for positive change for society and the planet. We are committed to fulfilling the desire of people who love cars and want to keep driving for as long as possible.”
Along with the two futuristic concepts, Mazda also gave its first public appearance at the show to the all-new Mazda CX-5. The latest generation of the brand’s best-selling model, which has sold more than 4.5 million units globally, features a refined Kodo design, a spacious interior and a new Mazda E/e Architecture+ designed to enhance the car’s ‘jinba ittai’, or unity between driver and car.
