A man has died in a crash after driving the wrong way on the M62 motorway.
police A call was received just after 2am on Saturday that a Vauxhall Corsa was traveling westbound on the eastbound carriageway.
Police were sent to search for the car but soon discovered it had crashed into a Volkswagen Golf near Scamondon Bridge, east of Huddersfield.
Firefighters and paramedics also attended the incident between junctions 22 and 23, but the male driver of the Corsa was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man driving the Golf was seriously injured and was taken to hospital for treatment.
The highway was closed in both directions Saturday morning.
west york Police said its Major Collision Investigation Team was investigating the crash.
Police are appealing for witnesses who saw the accident or who saw video of the gray Vauxhall Corsa before the crash.
