A man attempted suicide by jumping from a building in Mecca’s Grand Mosque. khaliji era reported Wednesday.

The publication did not reveal the man’s identity but said he had been transferred to a hospital where he received necessary medical care.

The Grand Mosque Security Special Forces launched an investigation into the incident.

In an interview with X, authorities said “the necessary procedures have been completed” but gave no further details about the incident.

The unfortunate incident occurred during the holy month of Ramadan when millions of Muslims gather in Mecca and Medina to perform Umrah.

In 2017, a Saudi man attempted to set himself on fire in front of the Kaaba, but was stopped by security forces.

In 2018, there were three separate suicide-related incidents. In early June, a Frenchman committed suicide by jumping from the roof of a mosque.

More than a week later, a Bangladeshi man committed suicide in the same manner. In August of the same year, an Arab man committed suicide by jumping from the Grand Mosque.
