Delhi shocked: Man raped friend from Bangladesh, poured ‘hot dal’ on her and beat her for a week

A woman from West Bengal’s Darjeeling was allegedly raped, beaten and tortured by her friends for a week in south Delhi’s Neb Sarai area, police said on Tuesday. He even hurt the woman by pouring “hot lentils” on her.

The accused, a 28-year-old Paras native, was arrested on February 2 for rape, sodomy and causing hurt.

The woman had been living with Paras in a rented accommodation at Nebsaraju Park for nearly a month. Police discovered the incident on January 30 when Neb Sarai Police Station received a PCR call stating that a woman had been assaulted by her husband.

Soon after receiving the PCR call, a police team reached the spot and rescued the woman, after which she was admitted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Officials noted that when the woman was taken to the hospital, she had approximately 20 injuries. She was recently discharged from hospital, they added.

Friend charged over phone

A senior police officer said that during enquiry, the victim stated that she belonged to Darjeeling and got in touch with the “accused” over phone. She became friends with Paras and has been in touch with him for the past three to four months.

The woman found a job as a maid in Bengaluru and should reach the city by the first week of January, the official said.

However, as her train plans passed through Delhi, she decided to take a break and meet Paras. The defendant then asked her to stay and promised to help her find a job.

Sexual assault, beatings and torture

But as time went on, Paras began beating her and even sexually assaulted her for a week, the official quoted the victim as saying.

On one occasion, Paras even allegedly “poured hot dal on her”, causing her to suffer burns, the officer added.

The accused was arrested and booked

The police registered an FIR under sections 323 (intentionally causing hurt), 376 (rape), 377 (sodomy) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) on January 30 based on the victim’s complaint and on February Pallas was arrested on the 2nd.

The accused, who hails from Uttarakhand, worked as a cook in a restaurant in Delhi.

Police said the matter is under further investigation.
