A suspect who left a 70-year-old woman “scared to leave her home” after a sexual assault near a park has appeared in court.
The pensioner was reportedly walking near Colquhoun Park in Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire, on Friday, March 22, when she was pushed to the ground and sexually assaulted by a man.
The incident is said to have occurred near Station Road at around 5.15pm.
police Scotland The woman did not require hospital treatment, but a detective investigating the case said she was “extremely depressed and afraid to leave her home.”
On Saturday, police announced that a 37-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and that a report would be submitted to the Prosecutor Fiscal.

The suspect, Martin Hackett, appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court that day and was charged with sexual assault with intent to rape causing injury.
Hackett, GlasgowHe did not enter a plea to the charge and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance.
