Police said a case has been registered with various departments of the IPC.

Indore:

Four women have been arrested for allegedly beating, stripping and parading a 30-year-old woman over a dispute in a village in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district, police said on Wednesday.

A video of an incident that allegedly took place during Holi celebrations has also surfaced on social media.

“Four women forcibly dragged the victim out of her home, beat her and humiliated her by stripping her naked in public on Monday in Baghhola village in Gautampura police station area,” Rural Police Superintendent Suni said Sunil Mehta.

All four accused women were later arrested, he said.

Mehta visited the village on Wednesday and said there was now peace there.

But he said the victim had gone to her parents’ house because she was upset at the humiliation.

One of the defendants suspected that the victim was inciting her mother-in-law against her. Police officials said she also suspected that the victim had brought her mother-in-law to Mandsaur without informing her.

He added that the victim and the accused women belong to the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.

According to him, some onlookers in the village filmed the humiliating act and circulated it.

He said the individuals were being identified and appropriate legal action would be taken against them.

Witnesses said the accused woman dragged the victim out of the house and stripped her naked.

They said that at the time of the incident, the victim kept begging for mercy, but the defendant refused to give in and openly tore off her clothes and stripped her naked. They also took her some distance to the public road in the village and the situation was the same.
