India’s nearly 970 million voters are expected to take part in the world’s largest election, where the country will choose its government for the next five years. Voting will begin on April 19 and will be conducted in seven phases until June 1. Counting of votes will take place on June 4.

Here is the complete schedule for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections:

The first phase of voting will be held on April 19 in 102 constituencies.

The second phase of voting will be held on April 26 in 89 constituencies.

The third phase of voting will take place on May 7 in 94 constituencies.

The fourth phase of voting will take place on May 13 in 96 constituencies.

The fifth phase of voting will take place on May 20 in 49 constituencies.

The sixth phase of voting will take place on May 25 in 57 constituencies.

The seventh phase of voting will take place on June 1 in 57 constituencies.

Results will be announced on June 4.

The term of the current Lok Sabha will end on June 16, before which a new House of Representatives must be formed.

Here are some additional details about the upcoming poll:

– 968 million registered voters are eligible to vote in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
– 180 million first-time voters.
– In 12 Indian states, there are more female voters than male voters.
– 1.05 million polling stations will be set up to conduct elections.
– 1.5 crore polling officers will be deployed to manage these polling stations.
– 5.5 million electronic voting machines will be used for voting.

The four states of Sikkim, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh will hold Lok Sabha and Assembly elections simultaneously. Jammu and Kashmir, which has been under presidential rule since 2018, does not appear on the list.

By-elections will also be held for 26 assembly seats in various states, including Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu .
