Former Team India cricketer Yusuf Pathan will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections on a Trinamool Congress ticket from the West Bengal Baharrampur seat. Mr Pathan, who has represented Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League, is expected to face Congress heavyweight Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, a five-time congressman from the constituency MP.

- Yusuf Pathan was born in Baroda on November 17, 1982. He is the eldest of the Pathan siblings and represented India in the late 2000s and early 2010s. Mr. Pathan, a right-handed attacking batsman and right-arm spinner, made his Ranji Trophy debut for Baroda in the 2001-02 season against Saurashtra.
- In 2007, Mr. Pathan’s heroics with the bat earned him a place in the Indian team in the Deodhar Trophy and Twenty20 domestic tournament. He made his debut in the T20 World Cup final against Pakistan and went on to win the title. He was also part of the team that won the 2011 World Cup on home soil. Over the next five years, he represented India in 57 ODIs and 22 T20Is.
