Prince Harry has been retroactively granted US residency after losing what he thought was the “only refuge” in the UK where he could take his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

After stepping down as senior royals in 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to the United States.

Although they retained Frogmore Cottage as their British residence for a while, King Charles ordered their eviction from the royal property in 2023.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Harry and Meghan regard Frogmore Cottage as the “only safe space” for them and their children in the UK.

The couple barely lived at the property as they lived in a California mansion in Montecito with their two children.

The Duke of Sussex amended his submission to Travalyst to state that he is ordinarily a resident of the United States rather than the United Kingdom, filings with Companies House revealed on Wednesday.

Prince Harry founded Travalyst, a global alliance of some of the biggest names in travel, in 2019, a year after he moved to the United States with his wife, Meghan Markle.

Harry chose the day he and Meghan left Frogmore Cottage as the official start date for his stay in the United States.

The date of his change of U.S. residency is June 29, 2023.

The couple cleared out all their belongings and had until July 2023 to return the keys to the property.

Royal commentator Phil Dampier told The Sun about Harry’s actions: “As always, there’s a lot that can be read into Harry’s actions.

“Being evicted from Frogmore Cottage hurt him deeply. He has now shown that he accepts his life in America.”

Prince Harry last visited the UK in February 2024, after King Charles was diagnosed with cancer.

The Duke of Sussex is expected to return to the UK in May 2024, but it is unclear whether Meghan and his children will be reunited with him.

Although Harry has traveled to London several times, the Duchess of Sussex, Archie and Lilibet did not travel to the UK in 2023.
