Laughter Falls Silent: Kashmiri comedian Bashir Kotur passes

Srinagar, July 28, KDC: Famous Kashmiri comedian Bashir Ahmed Bhat, known as Bashir Kotur, died at his residence in Hanjigund Chadura on Monday – a day after the bus was discharged from the hospital.

Reports said that he was suffering from many health issues. He was recently admitted to a critical condition in the ICU and was discharged on Saturday. However, his health deteriorated rapidly, and he died this afternoon, he said. For his commanding stage appearance and impeccable comic timing, Bashir Kotur entertained generations and earned comprehensive respect in Kashmir’s performance art community.

His death has abandoned a deep void in the world of Kashmiri comedy and Folk Theater, with a tribute from the entire region.

The funeral prayer will be held in his original village later today.
