Kolkata Knight Riders star Harshit Rana has been severely punished for violating the code of conduct during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday. The KKR pacer was reportedly fined because he saw off SRH stars Mayank Agarwal and Heinrich Klaasen. The young Knight Riders Seamer was a match-winner against the Sunrisers, especially with his heroics in the final. But his behavior disappointed many people and the IPL deducted 60% of his match fees.

“Kolkata Knight Riders bowler Harshit Rana has been fined 60% of the match fee for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the Tata Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

“Rana committed two Level 1 offenses under Clause 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct. He was fined 10% and 50% of the match fee respectively for the two offenses. Rana admitted both offenses , and accepted the sanction of the Match Referee. For Level 1 code of conduct violations, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” an IPL statement read.

Harshit managed to hold off SRH by holding on for 13 runs in the final over, while KKR won by 4 runs.

Despite Andre Russell’s stellar performance, KKR were almost overwhelmed by Heinrich Klaasen’s solitary performance, with Harshit saving 13 in the final over point.

Speaking after the match, KKR captain Shreyas Iyer said: “I was feeling uneasy from the 17th over. It felt like anything could happen in the last game. They needed 13 runs and we didn’t have the maximum.” Experienced bowler. But I had faith in him (Harshit) and I told him to back himself and it doesn’t matter what happens.
