King Charles launches new plan to prepare for ‘future needs’

King Charles isn’t letting his battle with cancer stop him from making some big changes to his beloved Sandringham estate.

The monarch, who is an environmental advocate, has reportedly proposed new plans for the Scottish palace to make it more eco-friendly sun.

King’s Lynn and West Norfolk Council claimed that Charles had applied for planning permission to build around 2,000 panels on the historic site to “meet the current and predicted future electricity needs of the Sandringham estate”.

In the application, it said: “The proposed development forms part of the estate’s ongoing commitment to sustainable development and the promotion of environmentally friendly practices.”

So as not to hinder the beauty of the estate, the panels will be hidden within a grazing paddock, covered with grass and tall trees.

The news comes after King Charles and Queen Camilla celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary at Balmoral Castle earlier this week.

“The king and queen traditionally spend their anniversary at Birkhall as that’s where they honeymooned in 2005,” a source previously revealed.

“But in typical fashion, the King was at work on Tuesday, so they haven’t spent time together in Scotland until now.”
