The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh’s children Lady Louise and James could play key roles in the royal family in the future if they take on royal duties, a royal expert has claimed.

The cancer diagnoses of King Charles and Kate Middleton have raised questions about the future of the monarchy as the two most senior and most popular members of the royal family no longer carry out official duties. As Queen Camilla and Prince William’s partners take a back seat, they’re left filling the gaps in the royal diary.

Richard Eden says young royals could bring a burst of youth to the king’s “streamlined” monarchy.

“What better way to leverage this strength than by injecting energy into young people who have been instilled from birth with the values ​​of public service and responsibility,” the expert said.

“Louis, 20, is in his second year at St Andrews University, while James, 16, will be taking his GCSEs this year,” Eden explained.

Lady Louise is in her second year studying at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland, where Prince William met his wife, Kate.

James attended an Easter service in Windsor this weekend with his parents. However, Ms. Louise was unable to attend due to academic reasons.

Eden also noted that Prince Edward has been “busier and more prominent in his duties than ever” since the king was diagnosed with cancer.

He said: “Edward and his wife Sophie are often overlooked because they don’t seem to attract media attention and seem content to carry out their numerous royal engagements and foreign visits quietly and without fuss.

“It seems to me that another great service this couple could do to their country would be to encourage their children, Lady Louise and James, Earl of Wessex, to become members of the Royal Family in due course.”
