Kia EV9 electric SUV tested in India for first time, view details

Kia, the largest carmaker, has been planning to launch new electric vehicles in India. Now, the plan appears to be in full swing, with the upcoming electric SUV EV9 revealed for the first time during its testing phase. The company had already showcased the concept car at last year’s Auto Expo and envisioned how it might look in the future.

Talking about styling, the upcoming king-size electric SUV looks very similar to its concept version. However, some cosmetic changes can be seen on the test mules. It gets the same LED headlight setup, L-shaped LED DRLs, huge bonnet, thick cladding on the sides, automatic ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, roof rails and more.

Looking at the interior, it’s difficult to comment on the details right now. The electric SUV is expected to offer a 3-row seating configuration and a multi-function 4-spoke steering wheel.

Platforms and Powertrains

It is reported that the upcoming EV9 will be developed based on the E-GMP platform and has completely solid build quality. Reports also claim that the electric SUV will be available in three powertrain options. The list includes the EV9 RWD, which will feature a 76.1 kWh battery and a 215 BHP motor. The maximum range of this setup on a single charge is approximately 350 km to 360 km.

Remote model

It also offers a long-range model, equipped with a 99.8 kWh battery pack, with a range of about 540 kilometers after a full charge. The SUV is expected to come with a dual-motor setup with a total power of 380 BHP.
