With the consecration of the Ram temple, the number of tourists in Ayodhya has surged, with tourists and locals alike eager to have a glimpse of Lord Ram. The Ayodhya branches of popular food chains like Domino’s and Pizza Hut are seeing growing business even though they don’t offer meat on their menus.

The KFC currently located on the Ayodhya-Lucknow highway has also been allowed to operate in the temple area, but they have been asked to serve only vegetarian options.

Due to the sacred temple, the city has imposed restrictions on the supply of liquor and meat within Panch Kosi Parikrama Marg, a 15-km pilgrimage area around the temple town that includes holy sites related to Ramayana . However, restaurants wishing to offer non-vegetarian options must operate outside this prescribed area.

Dinesh Yadav’s Domino’s Pizza, just a kilometer away from the recently inaugurated Ram Temple, has quickly become a hotspot as it is packed with customers craving for western food .

Being the first domino shop near Ram Temple, it has become a major attraction attracting numerous tourists from across the country.

Talking about restaurants, Ayodhya government official Vishal Singh said, “Large food chains have approached us with offers to open stores in Ayodhya. We welcome them with open arms but with one restriction, They should not serve non-vegetarian food inside panch Kosi. KFC has set up an outlet on Ayodhya-Lucknow Expressway as non-vegetarian food is not allowed here. We are even ready to provide KFC space if KFC decides to sell only vegetarian food .”

Meanwhile, the Ayodhya Development Authority has started construction of a food plaza at Chaudhary Charan Singh Ghat, which is expected to open in February. The food court will be a central location for a variety of food outlets.
