The transfers are effective immediately, the statement said. Although it mentioned the transfer as part of a wider administrative reshuffle, there were clear indications it was ordered following controversy over the recent dismissal of a teacher at the city’s Santa Grossa English School.

Some teachers and members of the public were dissatisfied with the way DDPI handled allegations that the teacher had harmed the sentiments of a particular religious group.
