New Delhi:
A court in the national capital today said that Bharatiya Janata Party (BRS) leader K Kavitha will remain in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) till March 23 in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.
Ms Kavitha, the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), faces charges of conspiring with senior Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders in exchange for the now-defunct Delhi GST policy offers.
At the court hearing, Ms Kavitha’s lawyer said it was a “classic case of abuse”. She was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate from her home in Hyderabad last night. After arriving in Delhi around midnight, she was taken to the emergency room office where she underwent medical tests.
The action comes nearly two months after the ED issued summons to the 45-year-old BRS leader. She was questioned three times in the case last year and the central agency recorded her statement under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Earlier today, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal appeared before a Delhi court after being summoned by the Education Ministry. The Louth Avenue Court later granted him bail in two complaints related to the Derry Liquor Policy case.
