New Delhi:

Delhi police have recovered the car belonging to the wife of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president JP Nadda in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, weeks after it was reported stolen in Delhi, officials said on Sunday.

Two people were arrested on theft charges, they added.

According to police, the Fortuner car of JP Nadda’s wife Mallika Nadda was stolen on March 19 in Delhi’s Govindpuri area.

The driver of the SUV went to Govindpuri’s residence for lunch after repairing the vehicle, but it was stolen.

He then reported the incident to the police. Police registered a case and started searching the vehicle.

According to the CCTV footage, the SUV was last seen heading towards Gurgaon and had a Himachal Pradesh license plate number, officials said.

“We have arrested two persons in the case. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had stolen the SUV on request and planned to take it to Nagaland,” they said.
