When Jonathan Scott proposed to his fiancée Zooey Deschanel, he was already very nervous.
The 45-year-old television personality got engaged to his girlfriend of four years in Glasgow, Scotland last year.
talking to page sixThey detailed the proposal which included Zooey’s two daughters, Elsie, 8, and son Charlie, 6, who she shares with ex-husband Jacob Pechenik.
Jonathan said he was “messing up” during the entire proposal, leading him to assume “the wedding was going to be a disaster because I wouldn’t be able to attend.”
“We were on a family trip with the kids and I had already planned the tour and everything. And then finally, we cleared the palace,” hgtv the star told the outlet.
“We were at Edinburgh Castle and we were the last people on the property. I had it set up so he said, ‘Oh, there’s a pipe band playing there. You want to go listen?’ Yes, great.”
“We go up to this beautiful area overlooking the city, and there’s this pipe band playing. And then suddenly, a guitar steps forward and starts playing Neil Young, our song, ‘Sharadchandra,” he recalled.
“And [Zooey]It’s like, ‘Wait, what?’ And then the kids took out a banner that said, ‘Will you marry me?’
“She cried and said ‘yes’. And I’m a mess. Like the wedding is going to be a disaster because I won’t be able to attend,” Scott said.
