J’khand: Congolese MP appears in court for second day in row in money laundering case

Jharkhand MP Dhiraj Prasad Sahu appeared before the Enforcement Directorate for questioning in connection with a money laundering case for the second consecutive day on Sunday, officials said.

Sahu entered Ranchi’s emergency room around 3 pm.

He was interrogated for about 11 hours on Saturday by sleuths from the Education Department, which recently arrested former chief minister Hemant Soren, in connection with the money laundering case in connection with the alleged land fraud.

“As the interrogation has not yet been completed, Sahu has been asked to be interviewed again by emergency room detectives,” officials said.

Officials said the education ministry plans to record Sahu’s statement regarding Sahu’s alleged relationship with Soren and a luxury car seized by the agency from the JMM executive chairman’s residence in Delhi during a raid last month .

According to officials, ED sleuths found the keys to the car at a property leased by the Jharkhand government in south Delhi and took away the car after completing a search.

Sahu told reporters after being questioned on Saturday night that the questioning was related to the impounded luxury car.

“It’s not a big deal…the vehicle that was seized does not belong to the former minister but is owned by someone else…investigation is on,” Sahu said.

The Congress MP was in the news in December last year when the Income Tax Department seized Rs 351.8 crore in cash during a raid on premises associated with Boudh Distillery Pvt. in Odisha. Ltd., driven by his family.
