Jammu-Srinagar NHW and Traffic Advisory for major routes issued amid Amarnath Yatra

Web Desk, 25/07/2025

Traffic Police Headquarters, J&K has issued an updated advisory for passengers and transport operators in view of the ongoing road conditions, weather concerns and ongoing Shri Amarnath ji Yatra 2025.

Officials have urged the passengers to issue guidelines for safe and smooth movement in important highways including NH -44, Mughal Road, SSG Road, and NH -244 (Kishta -Santhan -Esthanag).

NH-44 agitation update (24-25 July 2025):

On July 25 from 24 July to 1600 pm, from July 25 at 1600 pm, the vehicle movement slowed with the single-lane traffic in the vehicle and the Marog-Kishtwari Pathar Stretch. The passengers of Requi, Katra, Udhampur, Patnitop, Doda, and Ramban have been advised to identify a valid photo to be passed after the cut-off timing nominated from Jammu/Udampur.

Advice for LMVS and passengers:

Traveling on Jammu-Srinagar NHW should be caused by the risk of shooting stones during daylight, especially between Ramban and Banihal.

LMV/passenger vehicles will be allowed from both directions on NH-44 on 26 July, which is subject to weather and road conditions.

Cut-off timing for vehicles:

Nagota to Srinagar: 0600 to 1200 pm

Jakhani (Udhampur) to Srinagar: 0700 to 1300 pm

Qazigund to Jammu: 1130 to 1400 pm

Goods carrier and hMV rules:

The goods vehicles carrying parishbals/livestock should follow advisors and load vehicles quickly, parking at the specified locations between Nausag Tunnel and Levadura before 9.00 am.

HMV should avoid overloading, ensure vehicle fitness, and carry enough fuel. Only 6 or 10 tires vehicles will be allowed through Dhar Road.

HMVS will be allowed from Jakhani towards Srinagar only after assessing the road situation.

Institute-Sythan-Ethanag NH-244: Open to LMVS and high priority service vehicles (HPSVs) from both sides were nominated, under regulated time. HMV is not allowed.

SSG Road (Srinagar-Sanamarg-Gumari): After LMVs, permission has been given from Minamarg to Srinagar (0500–1000 hrs) and Sonamarg to Kargil (1130-1730 hrs). No movement after cut-off timing.

Mughal Road: Open for LMV in both directions; HMVs (up to 10 tires) were allowed from Shopian to Poonach between 0700–1800 pm.

Public Advisor:

Passengers are urged to confirm the road situation before traveling by contacting traffic control units:

Jammu: 0191-2459048 /2740550 /9419147732 /103
