Rajasthan Royals all-rounder Riyan Parag has been promoted to batting number four against Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 on Sunday hand, proving his value to the team. Parag scored 43 runs off 29 balls and shared 93 runs with captain Sanju Samson, who scored 82 off 52 runs. While Samson is the focal point of Rajasthan’s batting, Parag has excelled in his role as captain. However, the young all-rounder has struggled to win over fans and admits it all comes down to his character.
In a video shared by IPL on social media, Parade delved into his “character” and admitted that it was difficult for people to root for him. However, the young all-rounder remains unfazed by the online criticism.
“It’s hard to support someone like me. I’m a different character and I do things in a different way. To be honest, if I think I’m happy in my heart, if I think I’m well prepared, I’m not at all Don’t care.” Parag said: “I’m happy to give myself the best chance to go out there and perform. It’s been tough, but they (RR) have always supported me and hopefully I can repay them.”

There’s still a lot of chatter surrounding the Royals star, but he’s found a way to tune out the outside noise and focus on the task at hand.
“There are a lot of opinions about me, there are a lot of discussions about me. But when I’m playing domestic cricket, I don’t listen to them. It’s true that you have an ear for what everyone is saying, but that’s good and bad. … … You don’t have to let that affect you. No matter who says something, if I don’t truly believe it, I don’t think it matters,” he further said.
