Sensex, Nifty open today on January 20? Even though January 22 has been declared a market holiday on the occasion of the Ram temple consecration ceremony in Ayodhya, stock exchanges have decided to hold a special trading session on Saturday, January 20. NSE has announced that a full trading session will be held on Saturday.

On Saturday, markets will operate normally i.e. from 9 am to 3.30 pm.

“Members are requested to note that the Exchange will conduct regular trading sessions on Saturday, January 20, 2024 from the primary site in the Equity and Equity Derivatives segment as per regular market timings. The price bands applicable for normal trading days will also remain in force on January 20, 2024, NSE said in a statement.

NSE said Nifty Midcap will be closed on Saturday instead of Monday.

“For the equity derivatives segment, the MIDCPNIFTY contract expiring on 22-Jan-2024 will now expire on 20-Jan-2024. In view of the same, there will be a change in the maturity date for the Nifty Midcap Select contract only,” NSE said.

The exchange will conduct a special live trading session in the Equity and Equity Derivatives segment on Saturday, January 20, 2024 with an intra-day switch from the primary site to the disaster recovery site.

Maharashtra government has declared 22 January 2024 as a public holiday. A decision has been taken regarding the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya. The consecration ceremony will take place on January 22 between 12:15 pm to 12:45 pm.

The Finance Ministry issued an order on Thursday, stating that public sector banks, insurance companies, financial institutions and regional rural banks will remain closed for half a day on January 22. This decision has been taken regarding the consecration of Ram temple. Ceremony in Ayodhya.

Earlier, the Department of Personnel and Training had issued an order stating that all central government offices, central institutions and central industrial establishments across the country will remain closed for half a day on the day of the Ram Mandir inauguration ceremony.
