Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s war cabinet initially approved plans to launch an attack inside Iran on Monday night in a forceful response to Saturday’s missiles and drones from Iran, three people familiar with the matter said. Plans were canceled at the last minute.

By then, sources said, the three voting members of the war cabinet had ruled out the most drastic response – strikes at strategic locations including Iran’s nuclear facilities, the destruction of which would almost certainly trigger a wider regional conflict.
