iPhone 16 Pro is said to have a “shoot button” similar to that of a SLR camera that allows you to focus on shooting

Last year, reports suggested that Apple might be developing a dedicated shooting button for iPhone 16 Pro models. Now, more leaks from Weibo confirm previously released information and reveal more about the alleged capture button.

As spotted by MacRumors, the Weibo user suggested that Apple may be developing a two-step shutter button to mimic the functionality of a real DSLR or mirrorless camera.

User “Instant Digital” says a single press triggers the shutter to take a photo or start video recording, but when you press it halfway it lets you set the focus, similar to how a “real” camera focuses. The shutter button works. To put it simply, press halfway to focus and then press fully to shoot.

Reputable sources, including Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, have noted the button’s presence, and now more rumors are only providing a stronger narrative for the feature on the iPhone 16 Pro.

Last month, The Information published a similar report based on two sources familiar with the development of the iPhone 16 series, saying that Apple’s iPhone 16 shooting button may have multiple uses. This includes touch sensitivity, allowing users to zoom and possibly even half-press a button to focus a shot.

This means there must be some substance to this rumor. However, the official launch of these phones is still months away, giving Apple plenty of time to finalize the designs and begin mass production of these models. Therefore, plans may always change.
