She earns around Rs 5,000 per day by selling her own grown vegetables to vendors or in the market. She has two bighas of land on which she grows various vegetables like brinjal, green chillies, bottle gourd, safflower greens and tomatoes.

Geeta Devi is a resident of Dandari block of Begusarai district of Bihar. Talking to News 18, he told that he got inspiration to cultivate vegetables after watching a program on Annadata channel on TV. He said that during that time vegetable farming was considered a good source of income for women. “It showed how good income could be obtained by cultivating several types of vegetables together in the same field.” Taking inspiration from this, he started cultivating green vegetables in three plots of two bighas each i.e. 40 kattha,” said Geeta Devi. She further said that she cultivates only vegetables on her land.

Describing her farming business, Geeta Devi said that in the morning people call many nearby markets to know the prices of vegetables. After this they send the vegetables to the city markets or nearby markets where they get higher prices. According to Geeta, brinjal cultivation requires the most hard work. He told that about Rs 500 is spent per day in vegetable cultivation. However, the selling price of these vegetables compensates the entire cost. Vegetables are often sold for Rs 3000 to Rs 5000 per day. According to Geeta Devi, at present vegetables like tomato, ladyfinger and brinjal are available in the market at good prices. He said that the price of tomato is more than Rs 40. The inclination of farmers in the district has now moved towards tomato cultivation.
