The final of the 2023-24 Indian Premier League will be held on May 4, with the playoffs scheduled to begin on April 19, football tournament organizers said on Thursday. League organizer Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) said the venue for the final will be announced soon. ISL said in a statement: “The season final will be held on May 4. The fight for the final spots will begin on April 19, with knockout rounds and then semi-finals at home and away.”
The top two teams at the end of the league stage will directly advance to the semi-finals, while the third to sixth-placed teams will play a single-round knockout to determine the other two semi-final teams.
The ISL 2023-24 season is one of the most competitive with both Mumbai City FC and Mohun Bagan vying for the League Winners Shield.
Six playoff teams have been confirmed with Chennaiyin FC claiming sixth place after East Bengal FC lost to Punjab FC on Wednesday.
Apart from Mumbai City FC and Mohun Bagan SG, Odisha FC, FC Goa and Kerala Blasters FC have qualified for the playoffs.
Playoff schedule: Knockout rounds – April 19 and 20 Semi-finals (first leg) – April 23 and 24 Semi-finals (second leg) – April 28 and 29 Final – May 4 .
