1. The “Loktantra Bachao” (Save Democracy) rally, which will be held at Ramlila Maidan in the national capital but is seen as a show of strength and prowess, will be organized after Mr Kejriwal’s arrest last week in the Delhi liquor policy scam. Indian bloc unites ahead of Lok Sabha elections.

2. The opposition is expected to take strong objection to the BJP’s misuse of central agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate, Confederation of Indian Industry and the Income Tax Department. The issue has come into focus after the arrests of Mr Kejriwal and former Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren and the issuance of tax notices to Parliament, including one for Rs 1,800 crore on Friday.

Some of the leaders present included Congress president Malikajun Haq, senior party leader Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar ) Chairman Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray, senior RJD leader and former Bihar MP Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav. Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, People’s Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti and Democratic MK’s Tiruchi Siva.

4. The Trinamool Congress party, which has shaken the alliance by deciding to contest the Lok Sabha polls alone in West Bengal, may also field a representative. The party’s leader in the House of Commons, Derek O’Brien, is expected to share the stage with representatives of left-wing parties, including Sitaram Yechury of the CPM. 5. AAP Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will attend the rally along with other senior leaders. Arvind Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal is expected to attend, as will Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana Soren. Ms Kejriwal and Ms Soren met on Friday and said they decided to “take this fight forward together”.

6. It was unclear whether Ms Kejriwal would address the rally. After her husband was arrested, she took on a more public role and was accused by BJP leaders of being ready to take over as chief minister.

7. The Congress party said the rally would send a “strong message” to Lok Kalyan Marg, where the prime minister’s official residence is located, that “time is up” for the BJP-led government.Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said: “This is not a rally against a specific person. That is why it is called Loktantra Bachao rally. This is not a rally of a political party, there are about 27- 28 political parties participate. All voters in India ‘Jambandan’ Will attend the rally. ”

8. The AAP has received permission from authorities to hold rallies of more than 20,000 people. AAP Punjab working president Budh Ram said the party has set a target of involving more than one lakh people in the state.

9. The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a warning that restrictions and diversions will be implemented on several roads from 9 am to 3 pm today. Commuters are advised to avoid these routes if possible and use public transport, especially the metro.

10. The BJP maintained that the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal by the Enforcement Directorate and the tax notice issued to the Congress were the result of independent actions by the agencies and following legal procedures. It also slammed the AAP for insisting that the Delhi chief minister run the government from jail.
