India’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Ruchila Kamboi, while responding to comments made by Pakistan Ambassador Munir Akram during the plenary session on Friday, said Pakistan’s resolution on “Measures to Combat Islamophobia” was Adopted by the 193-member United Nations General Assembly. assembly.
“The last point concerns a delegation (and its rhetoric) that, like a broken record, remains sadly stagnant while the world progresses,” she said.
Munir Akram mentioned the consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act.
Ms. Kamboy said, “It is indeed unfortunate to see this delegation’s limited and misguided perspective on issues relevant to our country, especially when the General Assembly is considering an issue that requires the wisdom, depth and global perspective of all Member States. – Maybe this is not the strong point of this delegation.” Ms Kamboy issued a statement explaining India’s position during the passage of the UN General Assembly resolution on “Measures to Combat Islamophobia”.
The General Assembly adopted the resolution with 115 countries voting in favor, no objection and 44 abstentions, including India, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
