India records 74 new COVID-19 cases in one day

India reported 74 new COVID-19 infections in a single day, taking the number of active cases in the country to 871, Union Health Ministry data showed on Monday.

Data updated at 8 a.m. showed no new deaths were reported in 24 hours.

India has experienced three waves of COVID-19 in the past, with daily new cases and deaths peaking in the delta wave from April to June 2021.

On May 7, 2021, 414,188 new cases and 3915 deaths were reported, with a peak of 414,188 cases.

Since the outbreak began in early 2020, more than 450,000 people in the country have been infected and more than 530,000 have died.

According to the ministry website, the number of people who have recovered from the disease exceeds Rs 44 crore. Additionally, the country has administered 2,206.7 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to date.
